Thanks jbeest and Mike! It was a pleasure getting to talk to these guys. Especially getting to ask them some viewer questions during the press conferences! The last one (with Grischuk) just went online so that one might pop up here soon as well. I'm already looking forward to the next event in Paris!

Jbeest, currently the players are: Kramnik (world cup), Andreikin (world cup), Aronian (rating), Karjakin (rating), Topalov (grand prix), Mamedyarov (grand prix), and the loser of the Carlsen-Anand match. The last spot is a wildcard, picked by the organizer. The one restriction for this choice is that the player must be at least 2725 elo.

Good question, jbeest! There will also be two players seeded by average rating spanning the previous year (from June to June) provided that they didn't qualify another way. And those spots will go to Aronian and Karjakin. Then there will also be one wildcard for the organizers to offer to a player of their choosing who has a minimum rating of 2725 on the June 2013 list (available on the fide site). So far, there are bids from Russia and Bulgaria to host. Rumors and conjectures are already swirling about who would give the wildcard to whom once the bidding is settled. Personally, my money would be on Caruana, Grischuk or Nakamura, but you never know. Gelfand would also be an interesting choice. But in any case, that wildcard is the only spot left to be decided. The total number of players will be eight.

Thanks for the vids.  Question:  Now that both the Grand Prix and the World Cup are done, are there any slots left open for the Candidates ?  I know we have Topalov, Mamyedarov, Kramnik, Andreikin, and presumably the loser of Anand-Carlsen, but that's only five.
