ACP%20logo%20-%20new.pngThe ACP Golden Classic in Amsterdam was won by Vassily Ivanchuk with an impressive undefeated score of 5/6.

Ivanchuk beat Anna Muzychuk in the last round to seal victory by half a point from Gata Kamsky.  However, the games will not count for ratings because of the use of adjournments.

The time control was 40 moves in 2½ hours followed by adjournment, then an extra hour for 16 moves, followed by 15 minutes plus a 30 second increment for the rest of the game.

The tournament ran alongside the 2012 Dutch Championships at the Amsterdam Science Park, which was won by Anish Giri (see the official website for more information).

The final standings:

Wow...just recently winning in Cuba for the god-knows how many times and punching his way back into form Ivanchuk is at it again. What ever you do, don't count this guy out of the chess hunt. He is a tiger in the woods and as always: please be careful. Need I say more? YES...another quick championship for notorious "Chucky Chess." Cool

I watched many of the games via the official site; very interesting and lively games throughout, including all three last round games (the other two between Jobava-Kamsky and Le-Sutovsky).

Strongly recommended for watching -- you won't regret those minutes you spend!

Muzichuk-Ivanchuk (featured above, from the last round) is a true chef-d'oeuvre by Ivanchuk; the win seemed so easy in his hands, taking full advantage of one mistake by his opponent.

Radio, yes, I know. However, nice connection between UKR & SLO :) Oh...if you slovenize Anna Muzychuk it becomes Ana Muzičuk. Chucky becomes Vasilij Ivančuk & Anand - Višvanatan :D

Only girl? :) And yes, I agree it's a shame. Chucky is Chucky, in top ten. :)

Yes, a good result for Anna despite the last round loss to Chucky! A shame it didn't count for ratings.
