GM Bojkov has chronicled many top grandmasters in his videos, but today he takes a lesson from one of his talented student's games. After being tricked from a King's Indian into a Pirc, Black plays the dubious ...e5 (but is in good company, as at least one Super-GM did the same). The battle continues on until an unclear rook and multiple passed pawn endgame. Watch and learn some new techniques. | Nézzük a videót!
GM Melikset Khachiyan
GM Khachiyan continues his miniseries on how to tame the serpentine machinations of French Defense players. Against the McCutcheon, he advises allowing an endgame that was previously thought to be give Black good play. Watch and learn how the GM won a miniature with straightforward play down the kingside. Sure his pawns are a wreck, but that matters little when Black has the normal queenside development problems that always plague the French! | Nézzük a videót!
GM Dejan Bojkov
Going for opposite colored bishops out of the opening? Why not? GM Bojkov concludes his series by showing that many openings have this as a possibility, and if you know what you're doing, you can still fight for the win. He goes in depth with a fine win by Spasov, who shows elements of Spassky and Karpov - maybe that's how he got his name!? | Nézzük a videót!
GM Bojkov laments the end of his intriguing series on GM Bent Larsen. He finishes the compilation by showing an original game from the Dane, highlighting a concrete attack on GM Taimanov's uncastled king, followed by precise defense of his own king. Larsen also comes up with a rare obstruction idea. Let's see if you can find it! | Nézzük a videót!
GM Roman Dzindzichashvili
The horror! The horror! The "unimaginable horror" as GM Dzindzichashvili puts it. Just like Mr. Kurtz, Black should have died in this member game, but instead White didn't see into his Heart of Darkness. Black survives the scary onslaught, and after White makes multiple mistakes in the rook endgame, Black was even winning. The fog of war is evident, but who would eventually prevail? | Nézzük a videót!
GM Alex Yermolinsky
The first game to finish in the USCL Finals was also the best. Longtime board one for the Miami Sharks, GM Julio Becerra, gets his team ahead 1-0 en route to their first ever league title. The game is a straightforward Dragon - "Sac, sac, mate" as GM Yermolinsky reminds. GM Tamaz Gelashvili did not counter with ...h5 and his attack fell one move short. That's all it takes in such a double-edged opening. | Nézzük a videót!
GM Roman Dzindzichashvili
Like classic openings? Fan of the Greek Gift sacrifice? Eager to see the Arabian Mate in a real game? All the traditional motifs are present in GM Dzindzi's selection for today's member analysis video. Black gets the pressure he seeks in the Two Knights Defense, but falters at the critical moments. Our grandmaster trainer shows you when to take extra time to find the elusive win! | Nézzük a videót!
IM Keaton Kiewra
With chagrin, IM Keaton Kiewra shows us three worse or losing positions from the same tournament. How many did he actually end up losing? Zero! By digging in and finding hidden resources, Kiewra shows you how to play from worse positions. These pragmatic lessons may take away from the artistic side of you, but isn't there beauty in being a fighter? Our author certainly thinks so! | Nézzük a videót!
